What are DENTAL IMPLANTS?

Simply stated, dental implants are titanium posts that are surgically placed in the jawbone to mimic the natural tooth root, so that one or more prosthetic teeth can be attached with a secure, permanent fit.  Dental implants are the strongest tooth replacement option that look, function, and feel like your natural teeth.  Additionally, implants keep the jawbone healthy because they stimulate the bone the same way as natural teeth.

Dr. Bell will color and contour new teeth to match the existing teeth for a beautifully natural appearance.

Dental implants are made up of 3 parts:

1)  Implant (root)

2) Abutment (connector)

3)  Crown (prosthetic tooth)

What you should know

Prior to placing an implant, Dr. Bell will analyze and diagnose a patient's case through a clinical examination and with x-rays.  Based on the patient's existing bone structure and the health of the gum tissue, he will advise whether or not they are a good candidate for an implant.  Implant candidates also need to go through a full medical screening so that Dr. Bell is aware of any underlying medical conditions.

When the titanium post is placed in the jawbone, the patient will be given local anesthesia and sedation.  Over the course of 3 - 6 months the implant will heal and fuse to the bone, and once secure, the prosthetic tooth is attached using a connector.

Dr. Bell has many years of advanced schooling and training using the latest materials and technology, making implants one of his top specialties.
